Home is where the heart is and no one believes that more than I do.
Sometimes, you really don’t know what you have got until it’s not there anymore and it was a period of homelessness which inspired me to start this blog.
A few years ago, I found myself having to sofa surf after making a classic homebuyers blunder – I had quit my apartment before managing to secure the loan I needed on my dream home. The whole deal then subsequently fell through and, to make matters worse, I then lost my job.
To cut a long story short, I ended up sleeping on friends’ sofas for nine months, before I was able to scrape together the deposit on a small, shoebox sized apartment.
But man, that shoebox never looked more like home, than after nearly a year of sleeping in other people’s sitting rooms and feeling like a failure.
Since then, I have been busy with this blog – to try and help other people keep out of the trap that I fell into, with my first attempt at home ownership.
I hope that you will find it useful as you house hunt!
